Volunteer Project: User Experience Research and Application Design
At Creative Coffee, we are dedicated to driving positive change in our communities. Our collaboration with Rising for Justice, an organization committed to broadening access to high-quality legal representation for low-income individuals in Washington, D.C., exemplifies our shared mission to make a difference.
Rising for Justice identified a critical problem in their operations. Lawyers required efficient training in determining expungement client eligibility. The existing process relied on outdated paper forms and in-person interactions, limiting access and understanding. Users found the paper instrument cumbersome and the analysis results hard to interpret.
As volunteers, we embarked on a journey to transform their approach, streamlining and modernizing the process. Our objective was clear: replace the paper instrument with an intuitive app, simplifying the process for both lawyers and clients. The new system seamlessly applies rules like waiting periods and disqualifying arrests, resulting in a user-friendly and straightforward interaction.
